It is important to distinguish the concept of distributable from distributed. Distributable connotes the potential, but not the requirement, to be distributed. For example, if desired, a typical Eyebolt solution can be completely contained on a single computer in a single location --- or, as your business grows, this same solution can be distributed onto thousands of computers in thousands of locations worldwide. Distributed architectures, on the other hand, typically have a specific requirement to always distribute resources in a significant way and rarely provide the flexibility, convenience and cost-effectiveness of a distributable solution.

Once a satisfactory course of operation has been set, the system will continue with a minimum requirement for manual intervention.
