The decision to form Eyebolt was based on the founding members' experience developing middleware and applications for industries requiring operation 24 hours a day seven days a week. From this experience grew the conviction that middleware made up of a set of distributed components, each handling a different area of operation, would be effective and efficient. Such a system would seamlessly handle the business in a form that was infinitely scalable and extremely reliable. Later successes based on these ideas proved that there was a definite advantage to creating a powerful system by which any application could access data and services through a standard interface.
